Ipad Weight Issues

The iPad has a vibrant screen and sleek lines in common with other Apple devices, but at around 1.5 pounds it could be considered to be on the heavy side. It's clearly lighter then every laptop on the market, including the MacBook Air at 2.3 pounds, but the iPad belongs to the category of hand held devices. And compared with other hand helds out there, it is a heavy weight. That's why iPad owners tend to prop the device in some way while using it for extended periods.

In response to this criticism, Apple has focused on design changes to reduce the size and weight of the iPad 2. The possible new LG screen is lighter and over a mm thinner the the current iPad display, and the frame is also smaller. There is a rumor circulating that the iPad 2 will be made of a lighter material that is similar to carbon fiber in place of aluminum.
